Haven't been out to Italian for a while, and this was a nice surprise. Traditional Italian but also with different twists. We had eggplant, mussels and Sally salad to start. Each had their unique tastes. Then we had duck ravioli, lobster ravioli, scallops risotto, and seafood diavolo. The portions were deceptive large and well done.
The atmosphere is a bit loud and it is hard to have conversation. The bread and lasagna were excellent. Had to send spaghetti back; the pasta tasted overcooked and rubbery. I ordered a shirley temple and was given colored water. The servers could have been more attentive to table. Pricing was fair.
The food was very good, the drinks weren't too bad. I only wish I was given the dinner menu instead of the lunch menu because I really wanted to try the fillet. Service was very attentive. The food did take a while to arrive at the table, but I guess that happens when the food is cooked well. The place is a little pricey, but that is expected for the type of restaurant it is. Also the apps were great as well. I would definitely recommend giving them a try. This was the location in Hunt Valley.
The Alfredo I ordered felt as if I was being punished for ordering it, completely flavorless and I’m nearly certain the chicken was boiled. I was not seated until 30 minutes after my reservation time and I watched employees dressed in sweatpants pouring wine and bussing tables. At one point a number of the kitchen staff were standing out front in the rain, it was as if they were making their circumstances worse on purpose to have some sort of excitement in the kitchen. Absolutely thrilling experience being here and seeing just how many things they could get wrong. It was so bad it was enjoyable.
It's not bad, just not impressive to me since I've tasted better Italian food. The portion is huge like other reviewers mentioned, so make sure you do not fill out your tummy with the free bread although the dipping sauce was so yummy. The establishment gives an impression of an upper scale authentic Italian restaurant, maybe this is why the experience was more underwhelmed. For example, we ordered black tea and Capchino with cream, but the server brought those little creamers you expect at a gasoline station or a dinner, and we were told the restaurant does not have half-and-half, so we asked for milk to substitute. Nothing really wrong here, just felt as an authentic Italian restaurant, the bar for coffee and creamer should be set higher.
Service and atmosphere were great. Food on the other hand left much to be desired. Portion sizes were huge, every pasta we ordered was gigantic. Not always a bad sign but put us on notice. Food overall was lacking in flavor and drowning in cheap olive oil. It wasn't bad bad, but a rough ride when the portions are huge. Every thing seemed pretty home made which made it all the more disappointing.
Had the duck ravioli that was drowning in basically Canola oil. The ravioli filling didn't taste like duck and looked like cat food. The actual ravioli skins were alright. Mushrooms were alright.
Great restaurant! They have a great atmosphere during the week and weekend, the food is always good, as a true Marylander I appreciate their crab toast. Vodka pasta is a must.
I took the boys after a hard fought baseball game to get some good sit down grub. We barely had room to eat after the bread and oil course. LOL We chowed down Five Loaves of warm bread and olive oil. They have one of the best dipping olive oil I have ever tasted.
The boys split a Crab Toast and then got pasta with Vodka sauce and shrimp. I had the Pasta Lula. Our server Tyler was awesome. She was friendly and super sharp.
Great experience, we will be back.
